my lyfe

We believe regular encouragement is essential for those seeking to transform their lives by fully connecting with God and culture through the Bible.

lyfe groups should be the primary place where we find this. We also believe, however, that this is important within the wider lyfe community.

So, we have created this page for your stories to be posted for all the other groups from around the country to draw encouragement from.

We want to hear your experiences of lyfe, so please email us at contactus@lyfe.org.uk or complete the online form to tell us your story.

your lyfe stories

Chrissie Slezacek is in her early 30s and lives in Sutton Coldfield.  She started a lyfe group in Starbucks with a couple of mums she met through a childbirth group. The mums wanted their babies christened, but were wary of going to church. Read Chrissie’s lyfe story …

‘It started because a few of the mums in my baby group were thinking of having their babies christened and I was asking them why they wanted to do this considering the parents had no belief in God.

‘Two of the ladies said yes to meeting up with myself and another Christian mum to look at the Bible and chat about Christian beliefs. ‘We started by meeting in Starbucks – it was very relaxed and I think for them, it was just so normal as we would often meet in a café with the babies in their prams for a coffee and chat even before lyfe started.

‘We have looked at John 3, Mark 2, John 1, John 8, Psalm 139, Luke 15 and Luke 10. As well as a few other verses and passages which helped us explore certain questions and issues they were interested in.

‘I then invited them to an evangelistic Easter service where they experienced community within the church of Christ and started to understand what Jesus meant when talking about loving God and each other. They both were keen to return to church and bring their families.

‘A couple of weeks later they both gave their lives to Christ and I prayed with them.

‘Both ladies have already seen the Holy Spirit at work within them and their partners agree that a change has happened for the better!

‘Both ladies are so excited about becoming a Christian. They want to meet up as often as possible to chat, pray and read the Bible. Both are already asking about baptism too!

‘For nothing is impossible with God!

‘We now meet anywhere! Our homes, coffee shops, restaurants and even at Funky Monkeys!’

I thought you might be amused...
Someone in our Bible Study group had heard about lyfe and showed me the website address and blurb... We were looking at Work Life Balance last week in a different forum and I was thinking of following that up perhaps but wasn't sure if I was pushing my own agenda a bit as I was going to lead the session... so I thought I would look up Lyfe and do what it suggested... I was thrilled to discover the first session was all about Work Life Balance and the first passage was the one that I had thought I might have looked at first!  God's amazing isn't he...

"What is the secret of lyfe? From our experience: good coffee, growing friendships and the chance to let the Bible speak without any prearranged agenda. We all found it stimulating and refreshing. And cafe visitors on neighbouring tables pricked up their ears, clearly wanting to get a lyfe too."

Lindsay Shaw

"We found it a real blessing to meet and reflect together on a passage of Scripture and to let it speak into our lives. The blessing also came from sharing our lives with one another and hearing God's word ministered to us through the experiences of others as we reflected on it together. We all felt that this was something we ought to do more often."
